picnic basket

Wicker pocket baskets can serve for organizational or decorative uses around the home. Pocket baskets have rounded fronts and flat backs for placement on the wall. These decorative baskets often have an arching U-shaped handle above the basket for use as a hanger. The arching handle requires the installation of a decorative hanger to hide the hook holding the pocket basket to the wall. Adding pocket baskets to your kitchen, den or laundry area provides the perfect place to stash bills, mail or keys.

Step 1Choose a location in your home for the wicker basket that provides convenient access. Select a location where people won't bump the basket.

Step 2Tap the awl lightly into the wall using the hammer until it moves through the layer of drywall. Rotate the awl slightly to widen the hole to a size slightly smaller than the end of the expansion anchor.

Step 3Hold a plastic expansion hanger over the hole and gently press it into the wall. Lightly tap the anchor with a hammer if necessary. The raised edge of the anchor should be outside the hole and should fit snugly in place.

Step 4Hold the decorative hook in place and join the mounting hole to the anchor.

Step 5Insert a screw into the hook's mounting hole and push the screw gently into the plastic wall anchor. Don't press too hard or the anchor will punch through the wall.

Step 6Use a screwdriver to turn the screw slowly. As the screw recedes into the wall, the plastic anchor will expand to grip tightly inside the drywall. Continue tightening with the screwdriver until the screw is flush with the wall surface. The screw head should be nested right inside the anchor edges.

Step 7Adjust the position of the hook with gentle pressure to a straight position. Hang the wicker wall basket from the hook.
